May 20 has no owner yet

On May 20, 1927, American aviator Charles Lindbergh took off from Roosevelt Field in New York aboard his monoplane Spirit of St. Louis, beginning the first non-stop solo transatlantic flight in history. Thirty-three and a half hours later he landed at Le Bourget airport in Paris, where he was greeted by 150,000 people. The feat made him the most famous hero in the world.

On May 20, 1498, Portuguese navigator Vasco da Gama arrived at Calicut (present-day Kozhikode) on the Malabar Coast, India, completing the first sea voyage from Europe to India by rounding the Cape of Good Hope. The voyage, which took two years, opened the Spice Route and shifted world trade from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic, marking the beginning of Portuguese maritime dominance in the Indian Ocean.

On May 20, 1990, the first multiparty elections in Romania since 1937 were held, less than five months after the Romanian Revolution that had overthrown and executed dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu. The National Salvation Front candidate Ion Iliescu won the elections with 85% of the vote. Romania's post-communist transition was slower and more turbulent than that of other Eastern Bloc countries.
