May 6 has no owner yet

On May 6, 1954, British athlete Roger Bannister became the first human being to run a mile in under four minutes, completing the distance in 3:59.4 in Oxford. The feat, which many considered physiologically impossible, was regarded as the greatest athletic achievement of the twentieth century. Curiously, within the next 46 days, another athlete also broke the four-minute barrier, showing it was a psychological rather than physical limit.

On May 6, 1994, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and French President François Mitterrand inaugurated the Channel Tunnel — connecting Folkestone (UK) with Coquelles (France) through 50 km of tunnel under the sea. The engineering work, the largest in Europe in the twentieth century, took seven years to build and physically connected Great Britain to the European continent by land for the first time in 8,000 years.

On May 6, 1937, the German airship Hindenburg (LZ 129) caught fire and was destroyed in 37 seconds while attempting to dock at Lakehurst Naval Air Station, New Jersey, killing 35 of the 97 passengers and crew and one ground crew member. The disaster, broadcast live on radio, marked the end of the era of zeppelins as a means of transport. The causes of the fire remain debated.
