January 20 has no owner yet

On January 20, 2009, Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States, becoming the first African American to hold the office. His inauguration, celebrated before the largest crowd ever to witness a presidential swearing-in in Washington, was watched live by more than 1.8 billion people worldwide. Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize that same year.

On January 20, 1981, the 52 American hostages held at the US Embassy in Tehran since November 1979 were released by Iran after 444 days of captivity, at the very moment Ronald Reagan was being sworn in as president. The agreement was negotiated through Algeria. The timing of the release on Reagan's inauguration day was deliberately orchestrated by Iran.

On January 20, 1936, King George V of the United Kingdom died and was succeeded by his son Edward VIII, who would abdicate eleven months later to marry divorcée Wallis Simpson. The constitutional crisis that followed was the greatest faced by the British monarchy in the twentieth century and ended with the coronation of the stuttering George VI, father of the future Queen Elizabeth II.
