What happened on November 13?
On November 13, 2015, a series of coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic State struck Paris: at the Bataclan concert hall, on café terraces, and near the Stade de France stadium. 130 people were killed and more than 400 were injured, in the deadliest terrorist attack on French soil since World War II.
On November 13, 1990, British engineer Tim Berners-Lee presented his superior at CERN with a formal proposal for what would become the World Wide Web. The document, titled "Information Management: A Proposal", described a hypertext system for sharing information among scientists. His boss's response was: "Vague, but exciting."
On November 13, 1850, Romantic composer Robert Schumann — one of the key figures of German musical Romanticism — celebrated his fortieth birthday in Leipzig, where he was at the height of his creative powers. Known for works such as Carnaval, his Piano Concerto and the song cycle Dichterliebe, he would be committed to an asylum three years later.

Ariadna Vladimirovna Tyrkova-Williams was a liberal politician, journalist, writer and feminist in Russia during the revolutionary period until 1920. Afterwards, she lived as a writer in Britain (1920–1951) and the United States (1951–1962).
Pat Reid
Patrick Robert Reid, was a British Army officer and author of history. As a British prisoner of war during the Second World War, he was held captive at Colditz Castle when it was designated Oflag IV-C. Reid was one of the few to escape from Colditz, crossing the border into neutral Switzerland in late 1942.
Oskar Werner
Oskar Werner was an Austrian stage and cinema actor who reached international fame. His most prominent roles include two 1965 films, The Spy Who Came In from the Cold and Ship of Fools. For the former, Werner won a Golden Globe Award. For the latter, Werner received an Oscar nomination.
