On November 4, 1995, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated by a Jewish far-right extremist after a peace rally in Tel Aviv. Rabin, architect of the Oslo Accords and Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 1994, was the primary champion of peace with the Palestinians. His death was a devastating blow to the Middle East peace process.
