What happened on May 25?
On May 25, 2020, African American citizen George Floyd died in Minneapolis when police officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee on Floyd's neck for nearly ten minutes while Floyd repeated "I can't breathe". The video of the killing, shared globally, triggered the largest racial protest movement since the 1960s: Black Lives Matter spread to more than 60 countries. Chauvin was sentenced to 22 years in prison.
On May 25, 1977, "Star Wars" by George Lucas was released in the US — it grossed $775 million in its first worldwide run, making it the highest-grossing film in history at the time — and revolutionised cinema with its special effects, marketing and expanded narrative universe. Today the Star Wars franchise is worth more than $70 billion.
On May 25, 1963, 32 independent African states founded the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — the continent's first continental organisation. The OAU, whose principal objective was decolonisation and economic cooperation, was replaced in 2002 by the African Union (AU), modelled on the European Union. May 25 is Africa Day.

He was seen as a champion of individualism and critical thinking, as well as a prescient critic of the countervailing pressures of society and conformity.
Gene Tunney
James Joseph "Gene" Tunney was an American professional boxer who competed from 1915 to 1928. He held the world heavyweight title from 1926 to 1928, and the American light heavyweight title twice between 1922 and 1923.
Don Liddle
Donald Eugene Liddle was an American left-handed pitcher in professional baseball who played four seasons in the Major Leagues for the Milwaukee Braves, New York Giants and St. Louis Cardinals from 1953 through 1956. Born in Mount Carmel, Illinois, he batted left-handed, stood 5 feet 10 inches (1.78 m) tall and weighed 165 pounds (75 kg).
Irwin Winkler
Irwin Winkler is an American film producer and director. He is the producer or director of over 58 motion pictures, dating back to 1967's Double Trouble, starring Elvis Presley. The fourth film he produced, They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969), starring Jane Fonda, was nominated for nine Academy Awards. He won an Oscar for Best Picture for 1976's Rocky.
Rusi Surti
Rusi Framroze Surti was an Indian cricketer who played in 26 Tests from 1960 to 1969. He was a left-arm medium pace and left-arm spin bowler and a lower-order batsman. Surti was also a popular professional for Haslingden in the Lancashire League in 1959. He belonged to the Parsi community.
