On November 26, 1922, English archaeologist Howard Carter made a small hole in the sealed door of Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, and distinguished in the darkness the treasures accumulated within. When asked by his patron Lord Carnarvon if he could see anything, Carter replied: "Yes, wonderful things." It was the archaeological discovery of the century.
On November 26, 2011, NASA launched the Curiosity rover towards Mars, its most sophisticated mobile laboratory to date, with the aim of studying the planet's climate and geology and investigating whether Mars could have harboured microbial life. Curiosity landed in Gale crater on August 6, 2012 and remains operational more than a decade later.
On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of the Republic of India, which would come into force on January 26, 1950. Drafted primarily by jurist B. R. Ambedkar, the Indian constitution is the longest in the world with 448 articles and abolished the caste system, establishing the equality of all citizens before the law.
